Plans for converting a Sieg Industrial X2 MiniMill to CNC. This conversion will allow the builder to transform a 110 pound iron bench top minimill into a 3 axis CNC capable of performing many automated machining tasks. The mill will also retain its manual function which is ideal for the shop where it is the only mill.

Mini Mill YAxis Bearing Upgrade Kit
You will have to mill approximately " (~) off the existing shaft key to make room for the new assembly. The shorter shaft key does not affect performance, as the bearing reduces the amount of torque required to move the axis. This mod should work with all Sieg X2 derived mini mills – Harbor Freight, Grizzly, Homier, etc.

Mini Mill Modifiions
Few years later I got Mini Mill from Harbor Freight a variation of Sieg X2 mill. These two machines are very good when tuned well. I was able to achieve the precision of what is enough for my needs. When the mill arrived to my shop it was mostly assembled but I decides to take it apart, clean, lubrie and adjust the way I wanted.

I have a Sieg X2D Mini Mill and have been having some strange issues. I was milling along some slots on a home project, minding my own business when bam; the GFCI socket in my garage tripped and the Sieg Mill blew it's 5am (5mmx20mm) fuse. I ran to the hardware and picked up two more fuses.
